Serving unhoused friends in Downtown Los Angeles every Thursday night

Making a positive impact on the streets of L.A.

Bee a Little Better (BALB) serves unhoused and underserved friends every Thursday night on the streets just east of Downtown Los Angeles.

Our experienced and street-savvy volunteers have put the time in to really get to know the people we serve, developing close ties with the most vulnerable of Angelenos. We work hands-on, earning their trust and at the ready every week with a hot meal, supplies, and a sympathetic ear, because making a human connection is as important as the items we hand out.

Dedicated to the people we serve.

We currently distribute 175-225 hot meals every week, including soup, teriyaki chicken bowls and sandwiches complemented with water, beverages, fruit and snacks. Toiletries, hygiene, and other personal items are made available as they are donated, as well as tents, blankets, and seasonal cold weather gear. We also carry first aid items to help where we can, including Narcan for emergency situations.

Join us!

Bee a Little Better meets every Thursday night at 410 Boyd Street in the city of Los Angeles, and we begin serving right around 6:30. We welcome volunteers of all ages to walk with us as we serve our friends.

We collaborate with local organizations like Union Church of Los Angeles for special events and we’ve made connections to local businesses who help magnify our impact.

BALB is grateful for our generous donors, like Urban Social Services and Advocacy, Rose City Pizza, Fit Culture Pilates, and B-Man’s Teriyaki and Burgers for their continuing efforts as we serve the people of L.A.

Most of all, we owe a big thanks to our volunteers, whose time, energy and dedication drives our efforts and helps us fulfill our mission. Once a week, they prove that even a small group of ordinary people can join together and make a difference.
